Now days, fiber has become an essential part of my daily food intake. It has helped tremendously in keeping my body regular. I am also doing myself a favor in bulking up to possibly prevent any future problems such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Even though it may seem difficult to introduce fiber into your diet, it may be easier than you think. Here are some simple ways that have helped me get my daily roughage.

Fiber for Breakfast

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it is also a perfect time to incorporate whole grains into your diet. There are many ways to add fiber to the first meal of the day. Eating a bowl of oatmeal can almost be called the perfect food as it contains a lot of fiber and can help to reduce your cholesterol. For the cold variety, I find a cereal with at least 5 grams of fiber per serving. Incorporate some fresh fruit and you have yourself a healthy start to your day.

Full of Fiber Fruits

I adore all kinds of fruit, however, I needed to be more aware which of those fruits that I consume has the higher fiber content. My goal was to eat more fiber rich fruit such as apples, pears and strawberries. Adding these types of fruit along with meals is a sure boost to your daily intake of fiber.

Whole Wheat Bread

Switching from white to whole wheat bread is a big change needed to get that fiber in your system. This was the first step that I took and now I won’t even look at white bread. Eating whole wheat bread will help to fill you up, too.

Sneaky Ways To Add Fiber

Try adding some beans and nuts into your diet as a healthy snack or toss on a salad. I love to add garbanzo beans to my salad or grab a handful of almonds while I am working. Not only do you get your fiber but these are also loaded with protein.
